THE CAMPAIGN (Season 2010-2011): FAQs LIST
1. What I need to play ATC
See
2. Can a team get stick together?
Definitely yes, you will be in one of the two factions with your team organization, and you will retain your tag, the aim of the ATC is to emphasize team work and cooperation between teams, your team will be allied with other teams and as specified above there will be a general commander who will lead the operations, this commander is nominated by the faction and is responsible for elaborating and discussing the strategy with the squads leaders, of course each squad leader will have a precise objective and task in the operations. The battles are meant to be not only infantry but we will have also spec ops, armored units, helis, as our aim is to "simulate" as far as possible a military campaign between two armies not just a skirmish or a commando action.
Another important thing to stress is that each soldier will have a precise role (examples rifleman, machine gunner, AT, crewman and so on..), and the equipment is adequate for the role, this means there are weapons restrictions to avoid everyone carrying the same equipment (examples all snipers or all heavy AT), the squads composition is made on the basis of real squads (of course this is much country-dependent so we have to set up some compromises to have "realistic" but flexible squads.
3. Trainings
The trainings are depending on the faction (there willbe 2 factions consisting of allied teams, so the two factions will organize their own trainings), the two factions will nominate a general commander that will lead the operations, he is responsible for briefing and organizing his own faction forces, of course the commander can rotate if this is the agreement betweeen teams in the alliance, or can be the same for all the campaign.
4. About respawn
There is respawn but only for human personnel and transport vehicles, while combat vehicles and helis are limited in number. The reason of human personnel respawn is that the battle is 2 hrs long and we are simulating a war, not just a commando action, in this case the respawn is justified by the fact that it simulates reinforcments coming from behind the lines.
I have to say that the soldiers will respawn in the main bases, and the bases are far away from the frontline, they can be as far as around 15-20 min by ground, so the death will be in any case penalizing for the squad, it will disrupt the squads that need to regroup. I think personally is not the respawn itself that makes the game realistic or not but the way the game is played, in this case we do not want to transform 2 hrs battle into a simple deatmatch.
5. How realistic?
How realistic, this is hard to say, of course it is a videogame after all!! There is no rush to sectors, no points, we tried to develop a gameplay that emphasizes the use of a strategical approach, alliances, cooperation between teams, it is very important to have a good faction commander, good allies and good enemies as well, scores are not important but the use of good tactics, of course it is all dependant on players but the gameplay is discouraging those who just want to see statistics and score board.
- Finally, Plese feel free to ask other questions and I'll add to the list
Thanks for attention
